Job Description
Our client is a foreign-invested company, now looking for a Product Development Manager ($2500, Backpack/footwear, ID17608):
- Direct the development process for backpacks and footwear, from analyzing tech packs to final sample approval.
- Manage product timelines to ensure timely sample delivery, aligned with buyer expectations and milestones.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, QA, sourcing, sample room, tooling, and manufacturing.
- Leverage mechanical engineering principles to design durable, load-supportive, and user-friendly backpacks and footwear.
- Optimize construction, stitching, and assembly techniques, focusing on molded components, hardware, and footbeds.
- Provide guidance on pattern making and prototyping to achieve ideal structure, fit, and material behavior.
- Assess and validate raw materials, reinforcements, adhesives, trims, molded parts, and outsole components.
- Ensure material compatibility with both design objectives and production methods.
- Collaborate with sourcing and R&D teams to explore innovative materials and solutions.
- Develop and oversee testing protocols to evaluate durability, impact resistance, fatigue, and user comfort.
- Partner with QA/QC teams to review testing results and refine specifications when necessary.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for buyers to gather feedback, adjust samples, and review development progress.
- Participate in buyer meetings, development calls, and virtual reviews or fitting sessions.
Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a relevant technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product development for backpacks, shoes, or soft/hard goods.
- Expertise in integrating technical components, such as frames, padding systems, molded parts, or outsoles.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including sewing, HF welding, injection molding, and lamination.
